Load Testing IP Telephony Networks – Prior to a roll-out see how your network will perform and uncover any hidden network anomalies
Voice and video communications rely heavily on reliable real time media transfer for satisfactory operation. The network connection used for communications must provide enough bandwidth for the call volumes expected together with minimum acceptable levels of impairments; mainly packet loss, jitter, and latency in order for the voice and video packets to reach their destination without degradation that the user can detect. Available bandwidth and impairment levels must be measured to assess what quality level is to be expected.
Touchstone’s professional services team will work closely with you to evaluate your requirements and create a test plan. Once we have the test plan defined we’ll perform a series of real-world test scenarios to measure system throughput, performance, and provide an analysis of the key parameters governing call quality. A determination of the rated capacity supported by the network will be made by saturating the network with calls that include both SIP signaling and real media. Our analysis incorporates performance metrics including the throughput or bandwidth obtained, MOS & R-Factor score, packet loss, jitter, and latency. A summary of these data points is provided in a detailed report following the test.
